November 7th

By Paula Harrington

Can I welcome my hell
With open arms
Eager to embrace
The hate on my face

Can I hear those words
The hurt they combine
Desire to crush my soul
My hearts divine

Hold open my arms with welcome in mind
Step into those fears
That hell has confined

Witness and see
The truth that is there
Pulling back from hope
To despair

Deeper as yet
Fathoms surround
Alone in my hell
Arms open
Stand my ground

Soft caresses
Gentle hugs
Reassurances fly by

Seen, heard, acknowledged, recognized,
Hell’s been witnessed
Calm has arrived
